Hey John, i miss the videos, binge watched all of them. Don't give up on Perline, she needs you. Any new videos soon?
Hello John. Look delicious! George B
Ever used liners or cooking bags in your slow cooker ? We've always used them to make clean up easier .
Looks delicious my friend, very delicious. I will be over shortly. :P
Another quality test for olive oil is to pour a little in a small bowl and place in the refrigerator overnight. Better olive oil will solidify to the consistency of softened butter. Low quality olive oil remains liquid. Mangia!
Can a woman be trusted that sez that she is "" extra virgin""? Chicken cacciatore is great in the pot, must have wine in it. We like some fungus in it. Also like rice or vermaceli cooked exactly 21 minutes. Very few restaurants offer cheekin cacciatore, my fave beside rotissere cooked. That roo gravy is great with onion and garlic bits.
Grate video John I will have to try that by the way you made me hungry lol.
Eat your favorite desires! As you know life is too short to not eat what you want the most, or miss the most, or need the most!
That looks so good! Yes, John, I'm still around. LOL.
Hi John, A delightful video, and a delicious meal ❤ Thank you for uploading. Regards, PB.
I bought a 65 thunderbird a couple weeks ago and as a 16 year old with no job, it’s been a ton of work.
Hi John, loving the Thunderbird videos, I’m about 30 in so far. Just bought myself a 64 Thunderbird over here in England so about to go through a lot of the jobs you’ve already done. A little harder and more expensive over here getting the parts and I’ve just ordered a new gas tank that should be here this coming week. Might even try the old pipe and vinegar trick. Keep up the good work, Regards Col 👍
Make a video..
John what have you been up to.
I listen to mine every day !!! Didn't know it dated back to 1951 , thank you !!
Hi John. The schoolteacher here that used to watch your Thunderbird vids over my lunch break. Did I miss something? Haven't seen a Thunderbird video lately.
Hi John, let me understand this correctly, John C drove up from Florida to break into your garage and steal your 8 track player/ Radio to restore it for you? Was that supposed to be a gag?
My reverse light is stuck on even if the car is off.
Have we given up on the Thunderbird? No new videos in 6 months. 🫤
I see you've not been keeping up with the videos.
@@joernone I’ve seen nothing but radio videos posted. Haven’t been interested in radio restoration lately so only watch your Tbird ones.
Hey John, I have a ‘47 Philco console that I’ve tried to get to play at least 3 times. I looks like it wants to play….passes all the general tests but no reception. I won’t give up on it but if you have a little extra electrical magic send it my way. Haha I hope your son is doing okay and look forward to him getting back on the Appalachian Trail. Steve
Steve, Already functioning radios are boring, so yours is the best kind...no reception, lots of fun solving the problem or if you're lucky 'problems'.😁 If all coils measure continuity and the tubes are good, then a signal tracer will quickly narrow things down. Much of the manufacturing plant where my son, John, works has been repaired, but the city of Rogers itself is still cleaning up tornado damage. It'll likely be another year before that's pretty much finished. Regards, John
Hi John grate video my friend by the way their was two guys from California who were trying to bring back the Heathkit brand I saw a video about it on UA-cam about 2 or 3 years ago but never heard anything more about it. Apparently they were trying to get all the rights to the name and scamaticks and then reproduce the kits. I never heard anything more so your guess is as good as mine as to what ever happened to them. Anyway don't forget to paint your signal generator lol.
John, you got me worried about my Heathkit SG just like yours. I was able in the past to replace my Eico and others with that same genre Heathkits, which I am proud of! The paint looks new on my signal generator, as well as all the others! Thank goodness. Looking forward to the next video!
Frank, Relax, my friend. We worry about nothing!!! Life is too short. If paint starts falling off anything, just repaint it. Easy-Peasy. Regards, John
John, she sounds really good.. There is a 3rd & 4th possibility here which I have had happen to me.. #3 The Bandswitch may have been dirty enough to prevent it from working, but after exercising it , it has come back to life. #4 - the antenna screw on the outside of the chassis may not have had a good connection ( Rusty, etc). You connected it on the inside for this test These radios are fun !!
Ron, Thinking positive, because I really don't know, I also would like to think cleaning the bandswitch contacts had a delayed reaction, so to speak. And I moved the antenna lead to the outside screw. It's still playing well, but that was a very good suggestion, my friend. Brendan says the leads on old dog bone resistors would sometimes lose continuity, but after warming up would reestablish it. That was a new one on me. Regards, John
John, I'm going to put one hand on your video and the other on my 1946 RCA and see if that magic is transferable 😊
David, 😂I'm not sure that would work, my friend, but it's worth a try. What model RCA is it? Regards, John
Sorry, it's a 1945 56x3. But I'm not worried, there's no rush, it'll be OK. Luv your videos, thanks John. Dave from Woodstock,IL
Hello John. Well that was a surprise. You could be dealing with an intermittent connection. I'd turn it back on and tap around with a non metallic probe/screwdriver. George B
George H. Now here's something I hadn't thought of, my friend.🙄 Regards, John
I think that hide glue would be better than the liquid tape it will last longer and the liquid tape will absorb some of the vibration of sound dampening the speaker
Never ever burned yourself with your soldering iron???
Norman, Of course not, my friend. I may not always tell the truth, but I never lie.🧐 Regards, John
Grate video John love all your videos stay well my friend
I never tried liquid tape for speaker repair…always learning something new. I really enjoy your videos. Steve
Steve, Years ago during an Antique Radio Forum member discussion thread about speaker cone repair is where I learned about used dryer softener cloth. Everybody was chiming in with what they used to repair torn/cracked speaker cones...coffee filters to masking tape. 😁 One member mentioned dryer cloth, but no paid attention to him, except for me, that is. Later on , Liquid Tape seemed to also be a good thing to use, so I tried both. Been doing it that way ever since. I'll talk a little more about speaker cone repair in the next video. Regards, John
Well done my friend !! Thorough as always !!!!
Ron, Thanks, my friend. I'm not all that thorough. Luck just seems to stay with me. The next vid will interest you. Regards, John
Good job 👍
Thank you, David. Stay tuned for the next video, my friend. Regards, John
I like your perseverance, John! Love following you! Frank
Thank you, Frank, I appreciate hearing that. Hopefully, my vids will continue to attract your attention. Regards, John
Hello John. One step at a time. Wifey says good going John. George B
George H, Tell Carole, as Al Jolson used to say: She ain't heard seen nuthin yet!" Stay tuned. The year was 1927: ua-cam.com/video/22NQuPrwbHA/v-deo.html Regards, John
I repaired the speaker in my Eddystone radio using your method a few months ago. Worked a treat!
Graeme, To my notion, it's a tried and true method. I've patched some pretty big holes with used dryer cloth and Liquid Tape. I'm glad it worked out for you. Thanks for letting me know, my friend. Regards, John
John - what are you using to seal the inside?
Minwax Pre-stain wood conditioner. It's basically a sealer. Works great. I've been using it for years. www.amazon.com/Minwax-61851-quart-Pre-Stain-Conditioner/dp/B014MFONPG/ref=sr_1_4?crid=2NRCGI8W4PA7R&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.S7wx4wlWYo3j4MU-wmaJtoGqEgPMGXUly0af7h6uc8K7-hklJ5x7_ZsQZxyUFohExv0v-b6WE0vQFdIo2f2Jv__pXQLc33cJRCGkWcRuaXqh9l3pW8zIji4699KXKGmvZk1YIVaXV8_f3kGT-2zuxreYjTBXQ8sW-SfuetRe-2jSkESw1DkoR9ZS_4qAp0ZzpNl24Pvo7Ypbr3T08HXN5YqfG3bpcRA2tDPNSeXV78jcH41I6ek99gvsHXQxI7MugZ95DxP6o1N3gpIPzgQ_fjVh8FjQAxFrN_nWH1Q_3UI.Am4sDUElL2Wd8QYLBBn5oNLNQa2AQTrJd0bw3bfiFzY&dib_tag=se&keywords=minwax+pre+stain+wood+conditioner&qid=1721920510&sprefix=minwax+prestain+wood%2Caps%2C164&sr=8-4
Grate video Jhone.
Hi John, from watching your videos over the years , I learned how to read a schematic and to use a highlight pen to trace through when checking out components. Thankyou for that my friend,
Gordon, Thanks, my friend. It's very good to hear. That's what these videos, mine and others, are all about. Regards, John
Tell em John, there have been radios that I worked on for months on and off, because there were weird issues or just a mess, YOU DON"T GIVE UP!
Thanks, my friend. It's often astonishing how screwed up these old radios became over the years, almost as if the damage was deliberate. But the challenge to fix them is what keeps us in the hobby, huh? Regards, John
On the next video, could you include the link for the Antique Radio Forum, in the video description? Google's results are confusing.
Vincenzo, I just added it in this video's description block. Here it is again: antiqueradios.com/forums/ Regards, John
Thanks for the refresher, John. I still scratch my head occasionally following schematics containing multi-position switches like those of Fisher vintage tube stereo receivers.
@@joernone Thank you very much sir!
Centrex by Pioneer was a budget prices entry level audio brand spearheaded by audio giant PIONEER back in the 70's. I was proud owner of a ,centrex compact system with top mounted BSR changer back in 1975. My Dad purchased it for me for 500. U.S.D. Quite a big purchase for a spoiled 15 y.o. son. It was a truly great sounding system. A tad much for a young kid. I enjoyed it through disco era, playing it loud, pushing the 2 way Pioneer speakers to their limita. IT was a great started system with big sound. Thanks Father. I love you forever. You were a great and generous father. 😊😊❤
Hi John, You're a person of ingenuity. Regards, PB.
Not hardly, Phil. Generally, I don't know much about anything. But your evaluation is appreciated, my friend.😁 Regards, John
@@joernone hi, you're far too modest, especially when restoring Vintage Radios. You are doing an excellent job. Regards, PB.
I'm learning from you but I have a conundrum with a '38 Zenith I'm working on (5R312). The parts list shows 7 resistors and I've got 12 under the chassis. I can see that the wire wound resistor is missing but come in! Who's been in this? I've got great reception from 550 to about 900. Then I've got dead spots includinga 50,000 watt station. Checked the IF, spot on. Checked 600 and 1400 spot on. Caps are replaced so now going thru resistors. I've found some three times above and some two times down. Checked the colors and made sure. Wow. This is hard. And on top of that got some new bad resistors that don't check out. Gotta love this hobby when you can't trust the old and the new. Thank God for schematics!! Can't wait for next video.
Colin, Good timing, you caught me on the net, my friend. I just checked the schematic for the Zenith 5R312 and the parts list shows 10 resistors. But first, take a a deep slow breath and just be happy. Stress isn't allowed in our hobby. It's all one big piece of cake. Meanwhile, go here and see if it's the same technical data and schematic you're working from. If not, print it out and start fresh as if you've never seen that radio in your entire life. www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByModel/984/M0024984.pdf My email: joernone@gmail.com Regards, John
Photo of your red toe nails? John, thanks for another video! Frank
Frank, Clear on my left foot toenails and red on the right.😋 Regards, John
Hello John. I like the pill bottle idea. Fits just right. Thought I could smell chicken soup while I watched this video. George B
George H, The pill bottle idea came from an old member of the Antique Radio Forum. I never tried it until now...but we're not done with that yet. Btw...I dished up three bowls of the chicken soup and have them on standby in the freezer.😁 Regards, John
Looking forward to the restoration. Thanks for the schematic tutorial 👍
You're very welcome. Regards, john
Telling jokes while you cook you could be Justin Wilson.
Jerry, Thanks, but no thanks, my friend. Justin is dead. 🫤 Regards, John
REALLY ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS JOHN ! KEEP THEM COMING !.
John-glad to see a mish-mash. I've probably watched all of yours, always interesting. We use rotisserie chicken for stew and soup. Good stuff. We even make chicken salad with them. It has been in the mid- 90's with humidity up here in New England the past few weeks with booming thunderstorms some afternoons and power outages. Reminds of my days there in AR. Take care, Harry
Harry, Rotisserie chicken is the only way to go nowadays. It's amazing they're still so cheap. I also buy the nearly outdated ones on sale for around $3.40 to mix in with the doggie's food. It's a great treat for them and keeps their weight down. As for power outages: Four years ago Faulkner County went on a full-court press eliminating tree branches and vines hanging over thousands of wires. They also replaced weak power poles or drove heavy metal supports deep into the ground with bands around the poles to better hold them upright. It's been a long time since we had a power outage in these Arkansas parts. In a way it's a shame because Faulkner County residents can no longer pass the time griping to one another about all the power failures. 😋 Regards, John
Wifey was quite the looker back in the day !
We both were. I still am. 😂 Regards, John
Although I could never eat some of the Asian dishes you prepared in the past, I very much enjoyed the videos. Please crank out some more videos like this one! What favorite food have you not had in a long time? That usually motivates me! I really loved all the Blackstone grille videos! Frank
Frank, I'll be doing a more cooking vids, but only now and then, probably more so during the winter months. Maybe I'll try my hand at a chicken pot pie...the way it should be made. Anyway, I gave the Blackstone griddle and electric smoker to my oldest grandson, James, and his wife, Tanya. They built a new home, so I figured why not. Besides, it's cheaper and easier to visit them for grilled and smoked eats. 😂 Regards, John
